Looking at Athletics in a New Way

Shooting sports the past few years has taught me yes, lots about sports, but also how athletics are perceived. By being a sports photographer I was able to see sides of the game that not everyone else sees, and that was pretty cool. I enjoy being able to see other parts of the action, it brings a new meaning to the game.

My sports photography experience

Everything started in my sophomore year yearbook class when I picked up a camera for the first time... I soon became the student that went to all of the games and traveled to tournaments and state championships.

Before I knew it, I was a senior in high school shooting as the DIII National Men's Wrestling Tournament Photographer.

During this time I also started shooting for Cornell College Athletics.

By now I was also doing freelance work for our small town newspaper.

Then I started doing some University of Iowa work for the Cedar Rapids Gazette

A little while later, I was the photographer for the first ever National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships.

Then I did it again the next year!

Before I knew it, I was a student photographer for the University of Iowa Athletic Department.

And here I am now! Ready for my next adventure!
