Hey There!

About Anna

I'm Anna, a photographer, poet, and entrepreneur serving Des Moines and Eastern Iowa. My current goal is to continue gaining more knowledge and love for photography. I love trying new things and will continue to explore more of what the world of photography has to offer. I can't wait to meet new people - clients and photographers alike, and to continue this adventure that has taken me so far already!

The Power of "US"

How my family keeps my heart thumping and my head from exploding

I have always believed in soulmates. And that belief came true on November 20th, 2022 when I met (my now fiancé), Eric. Together, with our kitty daughters Dandy and Toaster, we are in my eyes, the perfect definition of "soulmates." He is my rock (even when I'd rather throw one at him) and he always knows how to make me feel loved and important when the world isn't quite going 'round. The world doesn't deserve him, and yet, he deserves the world.

One thing I will mention about myself, is that I am very family oriented. I would not be where I am today as a photographer or as a person if it weren't for my family. They are my number one supporters and will always make time to come with me to help out at a shoot. Growing into a photographer, they would always be the ones that would give something up so I could do something else with my joys and passions (including photography). A few years ago, when I got sick, it was my family who pushed me back up on my feet again. And I couldn't be more grateful.

A Saving Grace

When I'm not behind the camera, you can find me with my head in a book or maybe even writing one. My other passion is poetry, and I have two self-published collections (soon to return). I like to consider myself a storyteller, both through the lens and through words.

In a way, photography and writing have been a saving grace, as they were a creative outlet when I was at my sickest, and my lowest. There was a time when the only way I could express myself was through words. That being said, I take a lot of pride in my artistry, as it has been a way to cope. I also like think of it as a way to step out of the lens for a minute and watch and experience life from afar.
